Audrey II Re-Design
Process of my puppet of Audrey II from "Little Shop of Horrors"
Base Sculpt
Unsmoothed base sculpted to get initial shape and form.
Teeth!
Sculpted and baked teeth made of sculpey. Placed in mouth for layout.
Tongue, Veins, and Texture, Oh My!
Veins and texture added to give the plant a realistic look. Wiggly looking tongue added too. Audrey II can't eat people without a tongue!
Casted and Painted!
Took the sculpt and made a concrete mold of it. Casted a hollow latex version of the plant so that it could be turned into a puppet in the future.
Once the latex was dry, it was filled with foam and then a hand hole was hollowed out of it to make the mouth movable.
Colors based off the Audrey II in the 1986 movie of "Little Shop of Horrors." Bright colors to give the plant an out of this world/alien look.
Painted with a method of watered down acrylic washes.
Final!
Teeth were painted and glued into the mouth. A sleeve was added to the base as a stem and a bottomless pot was added to that. Fake leaves were sewn onto the neck of the sculpt to cover seams and add detail. A clear glossy medium was painted onto the tongue and lips to look wet and salivating.
